Each year, the School holds a special assembly to acknowledge students who have succeeded in the area of arts and culture.
There are three types of awards and criteria:
Arts Hall of Fame
For students or alumni who represent (or have represented) New Zealand in a nationally auditioned and recognised ensemble (such as New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir) or a professional organisation (such as the NZ Opera Chorus). Students will have their picture on the wall in the music block once they obtain such a position.
Excellence Arts Colours
Junior (Year 9 -11) and senior (Year 12 -13)
For students who have performed and achieved excellence in their art form to an outstanding level. Students need to have either obtained a graded qualification in their chosen discipline (Grade 5-6 for Junior Awards and 7-8 for Senior Awards) or won a prestigious regional competition. They also need to have played a significant role in regional groups if such is available, and have contributed enthusiastically to the performing arts at St Paul’s Collegiate for several years.
Service Arts Award
For students Year 11 and above who have spent at least three years of dedicated, outstanding service and commitment to the Arts at St Paul’s Collegiate and the wider community.
