The main aim of Tihoi Venture School is to encourage personal and social growth.
Teenagers today are growing up in a world of constant connection, screens and digital distractions. Tihoi gives students something increasingly rare: time away from personal devices to connect with others, take on real responsibilities and discover what they are capable of.
For the duration of the programme, students live and learn in a technology-free environment. Without phones and personal devices, they spend more time talking face-to-face, working alongside others, being active outdoors and becoming part of a close-knit community.
Students live in houses of eight and share responsibility for everyday life. They cook, clean, prepare firewood, organise their house and support one another. Each week, students take on different leadership roles and practical responsibilities.
These aren’t simply chores. They teach students to contribute, compromise, solve problems and recognise that being part of a community means doing their share. The experience helps build confidence, independence and teamwork.
Tihoi deliberately takes students beyond the routines and comforts of everyday life. Through outdoor challenges, shared responsibilities and living closely with others, students learn to manage setbacks, work through problems and keep going when things are difficult.
They are encouraged to reflect on their experiences, recognise their strengths and develop greater resilience and self-awareness.
House groups are carefully formed to create balanced and supportive communities, giving students the opportunity to form new friendships and learn to live alongside people they may not otherwise have chosen as friends.
Each house is supported by a house tutor who works closely with students through group and individual sessions. Students also keep a personal journal, giving them time to reflect on their experiences and personal growth.
Tihoi gives teenagers the opportunity to disconnect from their devices, connect with the people and world around them, and return home with greater confidence, independence and an understanding of what they can achieve.
