Twenty one students from St Paul’s Collegiate ranked in the top percentile of the Australian Mathematics Competition, which attracts hundreds of thousands of students from more than forty countries. The competition tests everything from basic numeracy skills through to advance problem solving.
Year 9 student Patrick Dowd ranked in the 99th percentile, ranking in the top two percent of the competition. Twenty other students ranked in the top fifteen percent of the competition, gaining distinction status.
Craig Scott (Year 11) was one of the students who gained distinction status, sitting in the 89th percentile. In addition to this Craig was awarded the Prudence Award for most consecutive correct answers.
A total of 117 students participated in the competition this year with 39 students receiving credit certificates (top thirty percent), 20 students receiving distinction certificates and one student, Patrick Dowd, receiving a high distinction certificate.
