St Paul’s Collegiate School students have once again ranked significantly higher than the national averages in NCEA and Cambridge examinations, continuing to position the school as one of New Zealand’s leading secondary schools.
Although the national university entrance pass rate dropped from 70.6% in 2013 to 58.3% in 2014, St Paul’s results did not falter; 80% of St Paul’s students gained university entrance in 2014, more than 20% above the national average.
Deputy Headmaster of the Senior School, Mr Peter Hampton, said all year levels performed well and that the 2014 results speak highly of the quality of St Paul’s teaching staff and the academic programmes on offer.
“Not all of our students are strong academics. Our outstanding teaching staff, academic ethos, small class sizes, ability to engage students and innovative educational programmes are prime reasons behind our school’s continued academic success.”
Mr Hampton says the school’s continued success is also a result of students’ hard work and commitment, an attitude instilled in students through the school’s strong traditional culture and values, close community support and, for male students, the lessons instilled at St Paul’s Tihoi Venture School.
