Fixed Term, Full Time Term 4, 2026 - 27 January 2028
St Paul’s Collegiate School is one of New Zealand’s premier independent day and boarding schools. With a growing roll of approx 900 students, we provide a learning environment that fosters academic excellence, character development, and meaningful contributions beyond our school gates.
This is an exciting time to join our school. At the start of this year, we welcomed our first cohort of junior girls (Year 9). In 2027 this group will progress into Year 10, resulting in a fully co-educational school offering from Year 9 to Year 13 for all students.
We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and passionate teacher to join our successful and well-resourced team in a fixed-term (maternity leave cover) position. The role includes teaching Level 3 Art Design, Level 3 Art History (Modern), Year 10 Visual Arts, Year 9 Art, and Year 9 Soft Materials. These courses are well-established, with clear structures and strong teaching and learning resources in place.
This role will run from Term 4, 2026 through to 27 January 2028. Ideally, the successful candidate would be available for a period of handover and transition towards the end of Term 3, 2026.
We seek applicants who have a passion for supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities, and are committed to developing and growing their practice. Applicants should place aakonga at the centre of their pedagogy, demonstrate a commitment to mana oorite moo te maatauranga Maaori, and strive for excellence in their teaching practice.
Applicants should clearly outline their experience and/or willingness to teach the subjects listed above, including any relevant strengths or prior experience in these areas. Our Art Department is housed in a modern, purpose-built facility featuring two large classrooms, a photography studio, and dedicated office space. The department currently consists of four staff, including a part-time Art Technician.
St Paul’s is well-resourced, with small class sizes and highly motivated, self-disciplined students. Staff enjoy a range of benefits, including daily cooked lunches, generous leave provisions, and a supportive, collegial environment. A competitive remuneration package is on offer, comprising the teacher salary scale plus a St Paul’s Allowance of $5,320 per annum. An annual bonus round also rewards staff involvement in our co-curricular programme and academic scholarship.
At St Paul’s, our vision is Cultivating Educated Contributors, and our mission is Inspiring Minds, Building Character, Shaping Futures. Alongside academic excellence, we are committed to being New Zealand’s premier boarding school, offering outstanding facilities, expert pastoral care, and diverse engagement opportunities for students. We are looking for staff who will embrace our vision and mission, and work with us to achieve our strategic goals.
