The 1st XV played Lindisfarne College on Saturday. The 1st half was very close, with both teams fairly evenly matched in the forwards, neither managing to dominate territory or possession. Tyrell Martin got St Paul’s on the board with 2 penalties, with Lindisfarne also landing a penalty. At 6-3 late in the first half St Paul’s were able to apply some pressure, culminating in a try in the corner to lock Keiran Dale to go into the break with an 11-3 lead.
The 2nd half started explosively with captain Thomas Gordon making a clean break from the kick off, busting through several tackles to set Creighton Winiata-Dunster up who scored under the post. St Paul’s continued to dominate the 2nd half when Samisoni Taukei'aho scored another try. With the score starting to stretch out, St Paul’s were reduced to 14 players for 10 minutes when Alex Mitchell was given a yellow card, however, the boys held it together well, and didn’t concede any points during this 10 minute period. Tom Yarrall then scored the 4th try for the team, securing an important competition bonus point from the game to cap off a great result for the team.
