v Cambridge Men
Mike Cotter Cup

Date: Saturday, 26 October 2013 at 10.30am
Venue: St Paul's
Result: Lost

St Paul's bowled well without luck early with two catches going down proving costly as that player proved the backbone of the Cambridge innings in scoring 91. St Paul's had to work very hard to finally get their first wicket at 123 when Tom Harsant with 2 for 31 from 7 finally broke through. Despite a further two catches going down, the St Paul's ground fielding was of a high quality with 3 excellent run outs being taken. All the bowlers stuck to their guns with Cambridge never really being able to take advantage of their great start as they were held to 234 for 7. Josh Malpas with 1 for 27 from 9 was the most economical bowler.

St Paul's got off to a great start through Dillon Kelliher 38 and Devon Nolan 16 to be in a great position at 58 without loss after only 10 overs. However the middle stages of the innings belonged to Cambridge, with none of the St Paul's top order able to bat through. It was left to Simon Morbey with 34, coach Mark Bailey 17 and Cameron Wratt 21 not out to try to add some respectability. The St Paul's innings petered out on 190 with 6 overs left only 44 short. St Paul's were left to rue some missed chances in the field and the lack of a lengthy innings in the top order being the only differences on the day.
