Term 2 has been tough for St Paul's U16 as half the team has been at Tihoi. Neither less, the boys were looking forward to their semi-final against a string HBHS U15A. St Paul's started on the back foot, not claiming the kick-off, allowing HBHS easy territory after a sustained period territory of attack, HBHS were rewarded with a try under the posts. HBHS responded with a seconded shortly after to go 14-0 up. However, St Paul's eventually obtained territory and possession and were rewarded with a try to Jay Bloomfield. However, for the remainder of the match, St Paul's couldn't match the intensity and physicality of HBHS. Positively, St Paul's backs showed glimpses of enterprise and were unlucky to score a third try. Harry Trumm was dangerous on the attack and kicked well. Layken Tua was dangerous with ball in hand and Daniel Strang was tireless in the loose, punching well above his weight making countless tackles and turnovers. The boys will regroup and look forward to their 3 and 4th playoff.
