They comfort patients and family in their time of need and provide spiritual guidance to those who are terminally ill, sick or on a long road to recovery. Their life is selfless and dedicated to serving others. They are the chaplains of New Zealand’s busiest hospital, Waikato Hospital.
Although their work is undoubtedly essential for the pastoral care and mental health of patients, their salaries are reliant on donations.
The work of the hospital’s chaplains is funded through donations from efforts such as the Friends of Hospital ‘Hear and Care’ concert being held at St Paul’s Collegiate School’s Chapel of Christ the King next Saturday 3 September at 7.30pm.
A number of St Paul’s students will perform at the concert, including Paraguayan harpist Fizzi Whale, violinists Emi Ng and Victoria Chanwai and the St Paul’s Collegiate School Choir.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased at the door on the night and cost $20 for adults and $5 for students and children. Doors open from 7pm.
