Which character do you play?
Pilar.
In a sentence or two, sum up who your character is in the context of the story:
Pilar is one of Elle’s (the main character) three best friends, who supports her while she is at Harvard.
What do you like most about playing this character?
I love how she is such a fun character, it is a role out of my comfort zone.
Have there been any challenges taking on this role?
One of the challenges is definitely the singing, I am not used to having to take on the voice of a high-pitched ditsy sorority girl.
Without giving away too much, what are you most excited for the audience to see?
Any big chorus scene! Everyone has put so much effort into all of the scenes so when we all come together it is electric.
Is this your first stage show/musical or have you performed before?
Back in Rotorua, I would perform in dance shows every year for my dance studio, and I was also in the school productions and Stage Challenge.
Have you ever received any awards or special achievements relating to acting/singing/performing?
AJDA (American Jazz Dance Academy) Elementary 3 Jazz and Urban Ignition Level 9 Hip Hop.
If you could star in any other musical, what would it be?
As a little girl, I would watch A Chorus Line at my grandma’s house, so I would jump at the chance to be involved in that production.
Is there anything additional you would like to share about your experience so far being involved in this year’s school production?
A big thank you to all the teachers who have made Legally Blonde a possibility. It is such a big task and everyone is so grateful for all the help they have put in.
Legally Blonde The Musical hits the stage at Southwell School Performing Arts Centre July 1-5.
