St Paul’s welcomes Lamoni Tawha as Pane O Te Tari Reo Maaori

15 January 2024

St Paul’s Collegiate School is proud to welcome Mr Lamoni Tawha, the new Pane O Te Tari Reo Maaori beginning in 2024. He brings with him a wealth of enthusiasm, expertise, and a deep commitment to working with our students.

With a robust understanding of both the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, Mr Tawha is poised to make significant contributions to the classroom and the academic journey of St Paul’s students. His specific interests in behaviour management, performing arts, and technology promise to add a dynamic layer to his teaching. He says, “I am very excited to help students focus on te reo and work with language and culture. I am also looking forward to building connections with the local hapu.”

Before joining St Paul’s, Mr Tawha served as a key member of the Senior Management Team at Whatawhata School and contributed to the Maaori Medium Education Advisory Panel for the Ministry of Education. His prior roles include primary school teaching and a position as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Waikato.

In his spare time, Lamoni spends time with his three children (all under 8 years of age) and his wife who is primary school teacher.

We look forward to the positive impact that Mr Tawha will bring to our community.
