St Paul's lost the toss and were asked to field in very hot conditions. Morrinsville were two wickets down early on but through good batting got to 225 for 9 in 56 overs. The heat may have contributed to a weak fielding performance by St Paul’s with some sloppy fielding and wayward bowling. Wickets were shared amongst all bowlers with Spence, Higgens and Spadoni claiming two each.
St Paul's were left with a fairly stiff target of 226 to win in 50 overs. They managed to achieve 228 in 47.2 overs with the loss of five wickets with Chris Swanson on 83 and Alastair Blackett on 71 n.o. being the main contributors. There were also good performances from Dillon Kelliher 28 and Tom Yarrall 21 not out.
