St Paul's batted first and while many players made starts no one was able to cash in fully on the very good batting conditions as 4 players were dismissed between 20 and 32. Alastair Blackett was the best of the batsmen with 63 as St Paul's made 238, probably 20 short of where they should have been.
In reply St Paul's fought hard against a powerful Kaipaki batting line up and the match was in the balance throughout. All the bowlers bowled well and some excellent catches were taken. From the final ball of the 106 overs in the day Kaipaki needed 2 to win and St Paul's a dot ball. Unfortunately a boundary was hit for Kaipaki to win a nail biter, but St Paul's can be proud of the effort in the field against a top club side.
