Batting first in difficult conditions the top order of Kippa Fawcett 24, Dillon Kelliher 36 and Alastair Blackett 19 responded well to get St Paul's off to a decent start to be 92 for 2, but crucially none of these were able to go on with their good start. A good partnership of 63 between Chris Swanson 46 and Reuben Andrews 23 kept the momentum going but again both players were unable to bat till the end. After their good start St Paul's lost their way a little to only score 43 runs in the last 10 overs in posting 187 for 6.
St Paul's had St Kent's in all sorts of trouble at 32 for 4, wickets to Simon Morbey, Scott Spence and Cameron Wratt and a run out to Eli Spadoni. From that point St Paul's were plagued with extras with 15 wides and 10 no balls as St Kent's fought their way back into the game. Cameron Wratt was the best of the bowlers with 2 for 22 while Eli Spadoni and Simon Morbey both took 2 for 38. With St Kent's needing 10 to win from 3 overs and 1 wicket left, the game was excitingly poised. A few near misses went the way of St Kent's who ended up scraping home with just two balls remaining. St Paul's did well in the field for a first up effort and did enough to win the game on a different day.
