The 65kg team played their semi-final against HBHS Black in the weekend. The team found it hard to get any rhythm or flow as the referee pounded us with a penalty count of 27-7 against. Brad Hermsen broke the deadlock with a good try. The team turned down a penalty kick straight in front of the posts, which could have proved fatal, as we crossed the line three times to have touchdowns denied. A nervous time followed as a converted try to the opposition would have resulted in a loss. A try to Seb Ellis guaranteed us a place in the final.
Next week we need to find our attacking strength wide on the wings. The team are looking forward to their final at school on Saturday and would appreciate a big crowd to help us reach our dream of being the first SPC team in 22 years to win this grade.
