St Paul’s succeeded in doing the double over St Peter’s when they beat them 1-0 on Saturday. The team had prepared well during the week and displayed confidence in possession of the ball as they dominated the first half. This domination lead to a great goal by Luke Goodwin, when he drilled the ball into the corner of the St Peter’s net after some superb combination play on the edge of the box. Unsurprisingly, St Peter’s came out in the second half with a revised game plan. It was clear they were intending to play a much more high-pressing and proactive game to disrupt St Paul’s rhythm and possession. Nevertheless, the St Paul's boys showed they have the tenacity to go with their tiki-taka and held on to seal victory at the final whistle. Aditya was a model of assuredness and maturity in goal and Matt Fielding showed that he is very classy and competitive player. All in all, it was a great team effort, and beyond the satisfaction of the result, it is another confidence booster for the boys as they head into the National Tournament determined to secure a place in the top 16. On the strength of this showing, they can most certainly attain that, if not something even better!!!!!!
