St Paul’s 1st XI started strongly on a very wet and bitterly cold night against Waiuku High School. St Paul’s played well in patches by passing the ball with speed and accuracy which troubled the opposition. However, St Paul’s failed once again to keep the game plan. Too often players ran with the ball rather than using the ball to beat the man.
Half time score 3- 0
In the second half St Paul’s continued to attack the opposition goal, unfortunately they failed to put the ball into the goal. They had a number of excellent opportunities but was denied by the opposition goal keeper or missed the goal completely.
Final score 5 – 0
The First XI has done extremely well against some of best sides in New Zealand. They now must keep building on their fitness and skills over the holidays and next term to give themselves the best opportunity to compete against the best in the country at Rankin Cup.
