We have played a number of matches in the wet this year but nothing like Monday evening. It rained throughout the match and the turf was literally waterlogged.
However this did not dampen the team’s enthusiasm. There was a definite determination evident in our players. We scored through Sarah Collinson-Smith in the 6th minute. Fairfield managed to equilise before half time. 1 – 1 at the break.
The game continued in much the same vein with St Paul’s having the upper hand, but only just. We were able to score again through Sarah to win 2 - 1. Having lost to Fairfield in the first round made the win particularly satisfying – a great team effort!
