The Under 65Kg ‘Porcupines’ played the final game of the Waikato Secondary Schools' round robin against Cambridge High School. It proved a tight tussle with St Paul’s scoring first and Cambridge replying soon after and at half time we only led by a 12-7 score line. It wasn’t until the final 20minutes when St Paul’s was able to assert any significant dominance on the team and ran in three quick tries to win 31 – 7. Hamish Te Whare scored three tries while Seb Ellice and Matthew Stewart also crossed the line.
The Porcupines finished first equal at the end of pool play, winning six of their seven games and as a result, have earned a home semi-final place this week.
