The girls first X1 football team played a talented Hillcrest team over the weekend. The game started slowly with Hillcrest pressuring our defence and slipping through to score fast goals. However our defence held their own and in the second half only let one goal through.
Our girls upfront capitalised on their limited opportunities with Eliza Larkman putting a superb ball through for Georgia Burke to slot in to the corner with a left-footed shot. Player of the day went to Georgia Hogg who stood up and filled in our missing goalie, she did a great job and developed confidence throughout the game.
We look forward to this week's game against Wanganui which will hopefully be more evenly matched and another hard game to follow against Cambridge High School on Saturday. It is promising to see our team holding their own against these premier division teams.
