St Paul’s Colts A played Hamilton Boys High School’s Colts A over the weekend, in what they knew would be a tough match against one of the top teams in the last season.
St Paul's started slowly and conceded early but rallied together behind the running and Freddy Corkill and Fintan Cooper ended the half strongly. The half time break saw St Paul's catch their breath and come out in the second half with high intensity and commitment.
The team started to work together as a unit seeing some nice link-up play in the midfield between Sam Dean and Shane Reddy winning St Paul's a free kick. Oliver Dowling fired a long pass to Lachlan McLean who controlled the ball superbly only to have his shot saved by the HBHS keeper. Harry Porrit kept making saves throughout the half as Harrison Newdick and Josh Yee started to form what could be a monumental centre back partnership.
St Paul's came up against a strong team and were out muscled with HBHS securing the win.
