After suffering a heavy defeat in the previous week, the Development XV had a point to prove against Hillcrest 1st XV with the winner of the fixture being promoted to the 1st Division. The St Paul's men got 'stuck in' early on with the forwards supplying quick ruck ball allowing the backs to run at will. With some fancy footwork, Ben Clare orchestrated our first two tries which were finished off by Joel Taylor and Wade Paniora respectively. Half time score 15 - 15.
The second half was evidence of the boys desire to win as St Paul's scored a further 26 points and dominated all facets of play, not allowing Hillcrest any points at all. The final score was 41 - 15 to St Paul's with Connor Gordon scoring a hat trick and Wade scoring a second try. Ben McColgan kicked superbly on the day with a fine display of accuracy.
