It was a chilly morning as the bounce brigade headed out to rivals St Peter's for the first of our national qualification matches, also a league game and round one of the Knock Out Cup some would say there was a lot riding on the result.
St Paul's were fired up to take on St Peter's after a disappointing 3-0 loss to St Peter's in the pre-season college tournament. The game started well with midfield, and the strikers working well to rip through the St Peter's timid defence. Confidence soared after a free kick inside our own half led to three passes up field and a quick goal from the one and only waikato ball.
With one goal in our pockets at half-time, we looked to take the match and a beautiful header from Johnny P ripped the game from St Peter's grasp. One last cheeky goal from Reed Fisher buried the coffin; full time score 3-0 to St Paul's.
