On Saturday the 3rd of May, the 1st XV completed their preseason programme with a fixture against Westlake Boys High School 1st XV.
St Paul’s started slowly, conceding an early penalty, to go behind 3 -0. St Paul’s then sparked into action, playing the better rugby in the first half, to lead 10-3 at half time, after tries to Asipeli Mafua’taimi, and captain Thomas Gordon.
In the 2nd half St Paul’s continued to outplay Weslake, with Jackson Morgan captilizing on a turn over to score a great indiviaul try, which was converted by Dylan Kelliher to take the score to 17-3. St Puals went to sleep in the final minutes of the game allowing Westlake to score a late consulation try off the final play.
Final Score 17-8 to St Paul’s.
