The Open A and development teams were both involved in a quadrangular tournament over the weekend. The schools involved were three Australian teams: Pembroke from Melbourne, Geelong College just outside Melbourne and Scotch college from Adelaide. We also hosted Kristin school from Auckland.
We knew from previous years that the competition would be tough, but the girls all stepped up and had great games. Our Open A team lost only one game in the round robin and played the same team in the finals.
With Kate in Australia and many injured girls, we still put up a huge fight, but unfortunately lost again putting them second overall.
The development team improved in every game and managed to pull it through in the last with a great win against Kristin.
Our players were superb with Kelly Forde being the most valuable player for our development team and Pare Gilmartin-Kara being selected not only as the best defense, but also the most valuable player for the tournament. St Paul's also managed to win the trophy for the best school at the tournament.
This tournament is not just about playing netball, but also making great friends. We had a wonderful time with the quiz night and the formal dinner and look forward to meeting up with these new friends next year.Well done to all the girls.
