After a long and tough summer of training behind them, St Paul’s 1st XV were eager to play their first pre-season game against MacLean’s College. The game started well, with St Paul’s building multiple phases and retaining possession. They were eventually awarded with a try out wide to Dillon Kelliher. The rest of the game was one way traffic, as St Paul’s proved too good in most facets of the game, with some excellent attacking rugby on display.
Overall, a pleasing start to the season, with strong performances from the senior players of the team. The boys now need to re-focus and put in a good week of preparation, for what will be a real test of character in this week’s tough away match against Gisborne Boys High School.
