v Hinuera CC
WV Champions Trophy

Date: Saturday, 15 February 2014 at 10.30am
Venue: St Paul's
Result: Won

Batting first St Paul's didn’t help themselves early on with several batsmen getting out to poor shots early on. Chris Swanson worked very hard for 44 to hold the innings together but when he and Devon Nolan 15 were out the innings was teetering at 96 for 7. Tom Yarrall 28 joined Simon Morbey and together they showed the depth of the batting order as they added 68 with some sensible batting to get St Paul's back in the match. Coach Mark Bailey showed his experience in scoring 25 from 25 as St Paul's scrambled their way to an unlikely 208. Simon Morbey batted brilliantly in making 63.

In reply Hinuera got off to a good start to be 114 for 3 at the second drinks break needing only 94 off 14 overs to win. Keeper Dillon Kelliher kept the team going in the field and a smart run out by Swanson soon after drinks turned the tide. Bede Higgens stepped up and completely bamboozled the Hinuera middle and lower order as he took 5 for 57 from 15. He was ably assisted by Cameron Wratt with 1 for 24 from 10 who kept things tight as Hinuera were bowled out for 153. This gave St Paul's a good win which looked very unlikely early in the match.
