St Paul's 1st Xv had their last round robin game against Fielding High School. St Paul’s started well with a try to Rhodrii Mackenzie in the corner. Fielding replied with a penalty to make it 5-3. Fielding then scored and converted to take the lead 10 -5 at half time but St Paul's replied again making it 10-10 at half time.
In the second half St Paul's struggled for field position and possession. Fielding through good hands scored and took the lead. St Paul's again responded in the last 5min but were unable to convert the try, so it was tied up 15-15 with 3 minutes remaining. From the kick off, Fielding regained position and after a few phases were awarded a penalty. They then worked the ball up field from the kick off and scored a good try to win 23-15.It was a disappointing finish, as we had our chances to win the game. The 1st XV will have to tidy things up and play much better to win the final on Saturday.
