A local event between two old rivals both committed skilful teams. Both teams needed to win to stay in the competition running. St Peter's opened the scoring with a penalty and a try.
St Paul’s Samisoni Taukei’aho crossed for a try after some committed close quarter running and Arjun Singh had slotted over a penalty. By halftime St Paul's had evened the score at eight-all.
Play continued to be fast as each team broke though with defending players scrambling. St Paul's loose forward trio was outstanding. Play would go from one end to the other.
Kip Fawcett challenged the defence from 25m out, breaking a tackle running back against play and scored close to the post. Arjun converted. Aaron Cleland scored under the posts after some pick and go attack close to the line.
St Peter's had also kept the score board moving along. With 10 minutes to go St Paul's lead 22 points to 20 and St Peter's were throwing everything into the game. The match was still played at pace with very few scrums or line outs. The ball was in play a lot and the control quickly changed as each team turned defence into counter attack .
Time was almost up with St Peter's on attack and again strong defence turned the ball over. Aaron Crow outpaced the St Peter's defenders to score a 70m try. A very good team effort.
