Conditions were fine and the field heavy for this traditional encounter. This was a special game for Jaden Verryt and James Hunt playing their twentieth games for the 1st XV earning their cap.
St Paul's controlled the game for long periods during the first half through continuity of ruck play. This determined approach lead to a Samisoni Taukeiaho try from a pick and go close to the line. After half time, St Pau'ls scored again. Wanganui supporters lined the field and performed a haka. Wanganui Collegiate’s team lifted, controlling possession and territory for much of the second half. St Paul's defence was organised and strong tackles were made. Captain Caleb Lingman lead by example and completed many turn over’s. With the ball in hand St Paul's took an advantage combining forward drives and clever use of the ball though the backs. Incisive running by Kip Fawcett, linking with Aaron Crow and Caleb Lingman lead to several more tries. The St Paul's scrum worked well and very accurate lineout work lead by Jaden Verryt secured good clean ball though out the game
