Rugby - U14

v St Johns

Date: Friday, 28 July 2017 at 10.40am
Venue: St Paul's
Result: Lost
Score: 12-40

St Paul’s had previously beaten St John’s twice this season however, because of losing a significant number of key year 10 players to Tihoi this term, the U14 team could field only 3 specialist backs in this fixture.

To place a prop and two locks in the backline was always going to be a challenge and credit must go to Josh Levin, Thomas Came and Matthew Waddell for their efforts in playing these foreign positions.

St Paul's started well, with player of the day Amino Manu scoring a great counter attack try. Unfortunately, the momentum of the game changed after 10 minutes of play, and due to a lack of experience in the backline and poor tackling technique, St John’s began make a lot of territory to score points out wide.
