St. Peters started the game well by putting immense pressure on our defence. This pressure resulted in St Peter's scoring a try and going 7 nil up within the first 10 minutes. For the rest of the half the St Paul’s defence held strong and when they got the chance to attack were able to put some plays together that really stretched St Peters. The only other points scored in the first half were a penalty to both sides resulting in a halftime score of 10-3 to St Peters.
In the second half St Paul's played with accuracy, speed and used the conditions well. Such was the skill level and precision that St Peters were rarely able to get into our half for any sustained period of time. After a good kick chase by Matt Caskie, George Dyer started the points scoring with a try and then Ferg Burke showed his class making two clean breaks, the first which led to a try by Valynce Crosby- Te Whare and the 2nd a try under the post by himself. These 3 tries quickly had St Pauls out to a 25-10 lead and St Peter's were really starting to struggle to find a way of turning the tide. While St Paul's continued to pressure the St Peter's line the only points scored in the last 15 mins was another penalty to Ferg, resulting in a final score.
