The 2ndXV came up against a physical Fielding High School on Saturday, a midweek game put some of our key senior leaders out, but that was no excuse. St Paul's looked good early on at scrum time, getting numerous penalties, but poor defensive reads and a lack of energy let Fielding take a 14-0 lead into the half time break, despite St Paul's being hot on attack late in the first half. The second half saw St Paul's with a lot of possession on Fielding’s line following good footwork and counter attack skills from Matthew Fisher which lead to a try to Nick Karton in the corner bringing the score to 14-5. St Paul’s struggled to capitalise throughout the second half, a Fielding penalty late in the game meaning Fielding took the win.
