The team played their best game of the season so far in very cold and wet conditions.
The team played a tactically smart game in the wind and the forwards and backs stuck to the structure we worked on last week. Dan'te Parata kicked well and Gus Hanham led the charge upfront with a captain’s and man of the match performance. Gus scored 4 tries in the game.
The forwards dominated scrums and lineouts which gave the backs plenty of ball to run with.
Cody Pierce kicked 3 conversions in the first half, judging the wind to perfection.
Half time score was 26-0.
We knew the second half would be tough, playing into the wind, but we carried the ball strongly and kept HBHS under pressure.
We scored three more tries in the second half – Henry Mandeno, Li-Kun Cao and Guy Ludbrook the other scorers along with Gus Hanham.
