The Development XV faced a highly motivated HBHS U16 on Saturday in the semi-final of the Waikato competition. St Paul’s were under pressure at the start, fumbling the kick off and then giving away a soft penalty to go 3-0 down. St Paul’s struck back with a try to hooker, Alex Johnson from a well worked line out drive. St Paul’s added two further tries in the first half to elusive winger James Mitchel and outstanding lose forward Liam Allen. The second half was a stop start affair with but St Paul’s were never really threatened and scored a late try to Liam Allen, which was converted by Matthew Caskie. Alex Johnson was industrious in the tight, Liam Allen was at his dominant best, Matthew Caskie provided impact from the back and Peter Neli made a significant impact in the loose forwards
