Only able to field 15 fit players, they started strongly leading 17-7 at half-time, courtesy of two excellent break away tries to Shaun Cox and a finely executed try to Riley Hunter.
In the second half, with the loss of key loose forward, Drew Gordon, Cambridge scored three unanswered tries to take the lead. SPC came back strongly, but were unable to finish off breaks in the extremely cold and windy conditions. David O’Rourke, with his barnstorming runs and superb tackling, was MVP and he was ably supported by Brad Waugh and Shaun Cox, who both had strong games.
