The 1st XV made a successful start to their Chiefs Cup campaign with a 22-6 win over Francis-Douglas. The game was a lot more competitive than the school line suggests. Francis-Douglas dominated the early exchanges and mid-way through the half had a 3-0 lead. Slowly St Paul’s started to get more ball and despite making numerous handling areas scored two tries to take a 10-6 lead into half time. The second half proved to be more of the same with St Paul’s scoring two more tries.
It was not the best performance from the 1st XV but Francis-Douglas are a school with a proud rugby history and are never easy beats.
