The Development XV faced a tough game against an older and larger St John’s 2nd XV.
St Paul’s started strongly with well-structured attack and were rewarded with a good try to Temple Beauchamp which was converted by Matt Caskie.
Luke Donaldson scored again shortly, with a fantastic snipping run but St John’s hit back with a try of their own.
St John’s made some changes in the second half, with their big forwards proving hard to stop. St John’s scored a further try to even the scores and then were awarded a controversial penalty try. St Paul’s hit back with another outstanding try to Luke Donaldson. However, the rest of the half was all St John’s, as St Paul’s struggled to maintain possession.
Overall a pleasing effort from the Development XV against an older and much larger opposition.
