The newly formed and young development XV had a big challenge ahead, playing St Laurence’s 1st XV from Brisbane.
Both teams started strongly, retaining possession. St Paul’s eventually scored through Valynce Crosby-Te Whare, which was converted by Connor Downey. St Laurence’s struck back through forward pressure, with a try out wide.
The second half was evenly contested. However, the slightly bigger and more organised opposition score two late tries to win the game 19-12.
For the first game of the season, the young development XV played well against an older and more experienced 1st XV. A promising start to their season.
