Tokoroa dominated the first half with their much larger forward pack bullying our players in the scrum and with many one off runs. St Paul’s defended bravely but went into the half time break down 7-0. In the second half with the injury toll climbing Valynce Crosby-Te Whare carved through their backline to score under the post. Soon after Liam Richardson finished off some great open field play to score a second for St Paul’s. Up 12-7 St Paul’s had a chance to close out the game with penalties close to the post, however, Tokoroa kept us out. From the last play of the game, Tokoroa scored in the corner to tie up the game at 12-12, missing the conversion to leave the final score at 12-12. St Paul’s defended bravely all day against a much larger team, and still have an unbeaten record for the season. 3 of the team spent the afternoon in the Tokoroa hospital receiving treatment from the tough encounter.
