We played a well-coached Matamata side on a rainy day with a strong wind blowing across the field.
The game was a fairly even contest although we had to play into the wind the first half. Matamata used the wind well and had most of the early possession. They kept us under constant pressure and scored two first half tries.
At half time we were down 0-10.
The breakdown was better contested in the second half, meaning we turned over a lot of ball.
Reid Elkington used the wind well and pinned Matamata down deep in their half.
Our forwards really started dominating and we scored 5 second half tries.
Fergus Hunt (2), Quinlan Ingoe (2) and Eli Potter scored the tries.
This weekend we take on HBHS to contest who will lead the competition going into the weekend.
