The Girls’ 1st XI had a hard game against strong opposition from Wanganui Collegiate. Without two of our key defensive players and our regular goalkeeper it was always going to be an uphill battle.
Vada Jamieson played a superb role in defence and saved a number of goals on the line once our defensive line was breached.
A strong game from Brittany Griffin, Kacey Diggelmann and Georgia Burke up front saw St Paul's have a number of attempts on goal, and although we were pleased not to have conceded a goal at half time, we could have easily been up a goal had our chances been converted.
The pressure began to tell though later in the game, and Wanganui Collegiate scored three goals.
Silvana Ground made her debut in goal, playing a solid game and making an number of excellent saves.
