We played a well-coached Matamata side and knew we would have to play well.
The game was an even contest although we had most of the possession. Unfortunately too many handling errors prevented us from gaining real momentum and putting the opposition under sustained pressure.
Eli Potter scored two run-away tries form the breakdown and Conner Peterson touched down under the posts.
At half time we lead 17-0.
The breakdown was not well contested and the opposition’s body position was lower than ours, meaning they turned over a lot of ball.
We again made too many mistakes and Matamata capatalised by scoring a try from our mistakes.
William Eyre managed to score from a ruck late in the game to seal a 22 -7 win.
