Agribusiness students meet with Governor-General

4 May 2016

St Paul’s Agribusiness students met with the Governor-General of New Zealand, Sir Jerry Mateparae, on Glen Emmreth Farm in Taupo owned by former St Paul’s parents Mike and Sharon Barton.

The Governor-General visited to learn more about farming sustainability, including restrictions on the amount of nutrients allowed on soil, and the Barton’s product Taupo Beef.

St Paul’s students were able to talk with the Governor-General. Greer Baldwin (Year 13) said she took a lot away from the experience: “Our knowledge and contacts have broadened thanks to this amazing opportunity."

The students were also treated to a lunch cooked by a Michelin star chef.

“This showed the quality of the cuts of meat Mike and Sharon provide. It was amazing to get to witness the final product,” said Greer.
